Bonaparte
was first shown as a 4 year old,
in 1997 in Dressage Basic I & II. He won at every show and received
numerous high point awards. He also received the Bronze Award for First
Level Dressage from the Canadian Warmblood Association.
Also at age four he
was inspected and licensed for the Canadian Warmblood
Breeding Association and was Reserve Champion at his inspection.
In 1999
Bonaparte was B.C.'s Provincial Reserve Champion and third at the
Canadian Nationals in
Basic IV and moved up to Medium Level. He got scores of up to 80%, the
highest Medium scores in Canada. He also received the Silver Award for
Second Level Dressage from the Canadian Warmblood Association.
In 2000 Bonaparte did his Stallion performance test and was
awarded three perfect scores of 10 for Character, Willingness to Work and
Temperament. He finished second overall in Dressage and fifth
in
Jumping.
Bonaparte continued on with his very successful show career.
In
2002, at age nine, he was shown by an amateur rider at Prix St-George.
Out of six shows, he won four, and placed second at the other two. Thru
out his competitive career he maintained a busy breeding schedule and had
no soundness issues to hamper his progress up the levels.
His offspring are big, good looking and demonstrate the same attributes that their
sire is well known for, namely, outstanding fluid movement and elasticity
together with the advantage of a great mind. Their versatility and
accomplishments over fences is also becoming well known, with several
offspring moving up the ranks on the West Coast circuit.
Bonaparte has
since been sold to the U.S. His frozen semen is of excellent quality.
